[Work no.100#5]

We have finished our project! But still we would like to adjust a bit to make it perfect.

I'm regret that I haven't present more about illusions of our animation because the lack of time, therefore in this blog I'll be focus on:

1.What else I didn't show on the presentation

1.What else I didn't show on the presentation

The choose of Background Music(BGM)

I have an OCD on colour and music. During the project, I almost get piss off when my groupmate was changing the BGM of our animation....then I force her to undo with the original music 'Pure Imagination' I would like to use.

I know she must be confused why was I getting so mad of changing the music, so I have to explain here.

Firstly, I listen to related music during storyboarding and matching color key. Since music always gives me inspirations and thoughts. Sometime I listened to one music, sometime I listen to multiply music with same style. That's why the music could always fit in the animation.

Changing the music would make me feel insulted and upset, because it means destroying everything I've done in the pre-production process.

You may ask what if the music has copyright issue that I cannot use in the animation?

Here's some solution I could think of:

1.Buy the copyright

2. Hire Sound Designer to write a new song with similar style(or write it by my own)

...........well...Money's issue is not a issue

We use quite a lot of shadow to show the movement of the character. The illusion means:

1. The homeless man is just a group of the people

2. Shows fear

3. Hints of the black and white abstract world

-Camera Movement

I'm a huge fan of Kon Satoshi. I like the illusion of dream, editing and camera movement....well I have did some daily practices by referencing how he use camera movement to do the transition

In this project, I used what I have learnt during the daily practice to show how upset the homeless man feel.

(Easter eggs must be included!)

2.Reflection of this project

Firstly....Finally not much emotional group mate in this group ;_; And it was the best group project ever in my whole life!

Emotional group mate means they judge you not for the benefit of the project, but in personal. Comment are including insulting, posting group gossip news in social media without any notisfication....things emotionally make the whole group feels depressed and had no energy to finish the project

huh...Shovel is VERY VENGEFUL : (

I always...ALWAYS having a groupmate like this...that's why I have to thank god giving me incredible groupmate this time.

I surprised that my group mate didn't complain a lot the workload or some technical problem and believe possibilities. They even willing to try harder than me (I feel so ashame for myself)

Besides, hey are not just say yes and yes to everything I said. Once they got opinions and thoughts, we discussed it together....like the black and white abstract world is totally Cynthia idea, Perry also add many detail inbetween motions of Asa, Queenie designed the concept of Asa

Every shots you have seen in our animation, have at least one part belongs to all of us. That's what call a 'Group Project'.

Sometime Cynthia and I got opposite opinion, Perry will come to find a balance result...such as discussing how many % we have to set of the colour filter(Fill light)

Me: 100% so that it could show stronger atmosphere, I have done some preview in photoshop.

Cynthia: 20% and overlay the color is better, now I think the color is too strong and looks like some fogs underneath.

Me: But then we won't see the color changing....hum....

Cynthia:....hum.....

Perry: why don't we set 60% in normal mode lighting?

Cynthia and I : Oh! Looks great!

Then I know what is called 'Discussion'. I could feel every opinion they said is for the own good with the project, not for personal....which is a very professional attitude for a project.

By the way it is funny to see Cynthia keep saying 'Damn! That's so troublesome!' ,' I will kill you all for the rainbow sketchbook!'(she did the colouring) or 'You must pay me for 10 times of dinner after this project(crying and said)', then she keeps doing her job with high efficiency haha

In the other hands, Perry will sing some old Cantonese songs for entertainment lmao

We have such great time and funniest things happened during the production, also we know each other better that's make me know who am I or what type of group mate I could fit in.

But also there is some management problems I have to improve.

First, I have to be a role model in the group to avoid the deadline fighter issue happen in the project. Even our group start earlier than the other group, it still not enough time to finish a better work.

Secondly, being careful to protect our project. To be honest, somebody keep stealing design(subtly) or eavesdrop other group discussion during the production which is very disturbing and upset. Made me didn't feel safe to finish the assignment at school or post any new idea in social network.....it hard to change the way that person thinking even sometime I've skillfully drive that person away, but I've learn that I have to protect myself.

Finally....I would like to do a bigger....greater...crazier work next time!!

3.透明少年Pale

I have already posted some concept before. I would like to do a project discussing 'Life and Death'.

Since I would like to say goodbye to the way. I use to think of a story. Such as 'I kill my mother to keep her alive' or 'I escape to a brand new world that I could be happy'. I would like to do some story which makes people think more...not just about how would 'Shovel' do.

That's why 'Work no.100' was really the final project of mine, and 'Pale' is just a brand new start.

I might do 6-8 mins with 3 scenes this time. With combining some Wabi Sabi concepts and 3D elements in this project.
